From February 19th through March 20th, Pisces rules the zodiac scene. Pisces brings a soft and gentle energy and is considered a “water” sign. Water signs are fluid, changeable, and subtle, and they are often associated with emotions and healing.

Pisces’ watery vibe lends itself well to daydreaming, fantasizing, and creating art; people with Pisces prominent in their natal charts often have a dreamy quality. They can easily become “stuck” or lost due to their tendency to hide and procrastinate, all in an attempt to avoid the harshness of reality. Because Pisces symbolizes the subconscious, as well as addiction and escapism, this is a great time to get clear on your feelings and motivations. The Pisces time of year is best used for “inner work,” spiritual and bigger picture pursuits, and creating beauty in the world. Journaling, free-writing, and art therapy, for example, are effective methods of getting to the core of your emotions and behaviors.

Ayurveda is a holistic system for health and wellbeing that views the world through the five elements: Air, Space, Fire, Water and Earth. According to Ayurveda, the elements exist in nature and in one’s body/physiology. The Astrological signs also have elements as noted above, and it is interesting to look at how our Astrological and Ayurvedic charts/constitutions correspond (note: one’s Ayurvedic constitution does not necessarily match up with the dominant elements in one’s natal chart, but there is often an overlapping and/or a connection).

The Ayurvedic belief is that we create balance by bringing together opposing elements. If we extend this theory to Astrology, we can create more balance in our lives this month by inviting clarity and purpose (fire) into our visions and dreams (Pisces/water). Also, a light-hearted energy (air) helps to relieve heaviness brought on by the deep emotions of this sign.

Experiment with a “flow-y” yoga sequence that gives you room to explore your movements and feel your body. This type of practice can help you to move through and shift heavy or painful emotions. You can also try a guided meditation, which will enable you to connect to your intuition (big picture) and realign with your intentions and goals. Afterward, write down any intentions/goals you have for the next few months and then create small and practical steps for accomplishing those goals.

Pisces represents all that is not tangible, like spirit and divinity: “Some things you see with your eyes, others you see with your heart.” A dose of practicality can help you to channel this subtle and magical energy in productive and nourishing ways.
